Kinja'd!!!

Starting to drive the compact tomorrow (I AM MAXIMUM EXCITE) and it has an old sony 10 cd changer. I dont even have a cd player in the renault, just aux and usb... Managed to dig out some good stuff though.

Kinja'd!!!

Including NIN, Dead Kennedys, Nirvana, Mudhoney and so on.

Kinja'd!!!

Also does anyone know how to get that bloody breakers writing off? Tried multiple trim cleaning products and diluted acetone (scared of using too strong a solution of it).

Any plans for it, now that the rust is tackled?

That twingo sure does look funny. Why is it so long? And what’s with all the round badges everywhere? Wait...you...your cheating on the twingo! SHAME! SHAME!

Acetone should of taken it off with no issues. The plastic itself is quite a hardy plastic and acetone or isopropyl alcohol shouldn't do any harm however don't get it anywhere near the radio or heater control surrounds.

Interesting finds in the cd changer. Never had a car with anything at all in, but I know somebody who bought a two mondeos, an e39 and a Passat which all had the same cd in (I can’t remember what it was; some really terrible 80's album). Whenever he threw it away, it returned in his next car like some sort of curse

Err. Drive it haha. Would like to paint it but dont have time. If I start making better money id love to turn it into a track car.

Ah I worded that funny, these were my CDs that I found in the house. The BMW came with some unnamed CDs in it that ive never played.

Oh, okay. You should check what’s on the unnamed stuff if you get a chance. Congrats on getting it running by the way. Once the quarter panels are painted it’ll look pretty much like new

Yes I suppose that’s what its made for, haha. Track car does seem like a good idea, though!

It should of come off easily unless it's sat for a long time and the oils have penetrated. The breakers shouldn't of written on the front of the item anyway, planks.

Thanks man. Apart from the paint and an oil leak its in real good shape. Unfortunately i dont have time to paint it myself and I dont have money to pay someone to do it...

Yeah I think she’d make a great track car with some mods. Handling is fantastic already so with some well thought out suspension and tyre upgrades itd be great. Needs more power too obviously.

The really annoying thing is they wrote on the underside as well. Why would they write on it twice ?!

Mate, when I come across stupid people I simply repeat this mantra, 'you can't cure stupid', which helps calm me down as I realise I can't do anything about it.

Kinja'd!!! BvdV - The Dutch Engineer > Twingo Tamer - About to descend into project car hell.

It would be cool to go a different route for gaining power than the usual six-pot. Like making a 316ti, using the turbo etc from the 318ti.

My mate is going to electrify his compact by the way, though he hasn’t told me any specifics yet.

I’ve bought a factory stereo for my car that had a CD in it once. It was a CD-R punk rock compilation so I messaged back the seller if she knew the tracklist offhand.

I assume you mean the writing on that cover on the console? If a mild solution with acetone didn’t move it it may not budge. If you use straight acetone be quick about it as it will start to melt the plastic and remove the grain if there is any. It also has a tendency on some plastics to whiten as it dries. You can always paint it with some satin black, but it won’t match. I’d look for a used one and replace it.

At scrapyards and car breakers they write a code on parts to keep track of them.

An e36 316i compact, probably the same trim as yours, but in blue.

True. I’m not sure how they’d have held up against Carbide, in particular. Speaking of, Carbide’s my new favourite, since there’s no Hypnodisc this time around.

That’s alright then, shame about the paint though. At least because they lot of the bumpers and trim are also black it sort of ‘fits’ haha

Carbide is brilliantly engineered. Curious to see what other new stuff well get in the other heats though, techonology has advanced since the last series we could get some interesting stuff.

Yeah. I liked that they actually took some time to talk about that with ol’ Sharkey—the difference between the LiPo batteries they’re using now and what they used to have, new materials, much more powerful motors and so on...

Try rubbing alcohol (isopropanol) on the writing, may want to dilute it from what the store sells and move up until it either removes the writing or ruins the part.

Ive joined forums for every car Ive owned and none of them were anywhere near as good as oppo. Ive been here for like 3 years now for a reason.

Kinja'd!!! Laurence > Twingo Tamer - About to descend into project car hell.
07/24/2016 at 17:17

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah, Ive found that as well. There’s a definite elitist attitude in a lot of forums. I’ve joined one of the mini forums (found an old for sale post for my car, only for a lot less than I bought it for) and although I never bothered posting there, it obviously wasn't like oppo. It didn't help that no two pieces of advice, even on really basic things were the same
